Welcome to the website of the Plymouth Branch of the Historical Association. The Historical Association is an independent charity incorporated by Royal Charter. We have been supporting the study and enjoyment of history since 1906. We are the Voice for History.
The Association believes that an historical awareness is essential for the twenty-first century citizen. We are the leading national charity supporting the study and enjoyment of history: a vibrant organisation active in all spheres of formal and informal history education encompassing the national and local dimensions.
The regional branches of the Historical Association bring together people who share an interest in, and love for the past and further the study and teaching and enjoyment of history in all forms. We aim to support Primary and Secondary teachers, students and also the interested amateur.
The Plymouth Branch has linked up with Peninsula Arts at the University of Plymouth and run a joint programme with lectures being held at the University. Our programme for 2011-2012 begins in September and continues with a series of lectures ending in March. Please see the schedule of upcoming lectures for further details.
